| Miles Community
College President Hicswa Selected as National Research Panelist |

Miles
Community College President Stefani Gray Hicswa recently served
as a panelist for rural healthcare June 16-18 in Chicago,
Illinois facilitated by the Rural Policy Research Institute
(RUPRI). The dialogue included university researchers, rural
community college administrators, and federal policy
representatives who discussed 1) future training needs in rural
healthcare, 2) community college program development and
workforce responsiveness, and 3) the importance of partnerships
with the specific roles all the entities provide. President
Hicswa provided panelist's information regarding her research in
rural community development as well as the Miles Community
College 2008 federal appropriation "Career Pathways in
Healthcare" project for healthcare science program development.
President Hicswa assumed the Miles Community College presidency
in July 2006. She received her baccalaureate degree from The
University of Montana and master's degree from Montana State
University-Bozeman. She received her doctorate through the
University of Texas at Austin Community College Leadership
Program.
The Rural Policy Research Institute (RUPRI) conducts
policy-relevant research and facilitates public dialogue to
assist policy makers in understanding rural impacts of public
policies and programs. RUPRI uses an approach to facilitate
understanding of the impact that public policy and decisions
provide on rural environments and involves researchers, analysts
from universities, research institutes, governmental units, and
other organizations.
