Miles Community College Library Provides Opportunity for Book Downloads

The Miles Community College Judson H. Flower Jr. Library is excited to announce that patrons can now download a variety of fiction and non-fiction audio books from the comfort of their home. All you need is your Miles Community College or Miles City Public Library card and a home computer with internet access. This is a free service for all library patrons.

The process is really quite simple. The patron would go to the Library's Wiki at: http://mccolinereference.pbworks.com/ and select the 'Download Audiobooks' option and follow the simple directions. The patron will be taken to the MontanaLibrary2Go website where they will need to download the OverDrive Media Console software to begin the process of checking out digital audiobooks. From this point the patron can browse the MontanaLibrary2Go website, select some titles, add them to a digital book bag, and click the download button. If the title is not available, it can be placed on hold for downloading later. Patrons will receive an email once the reserved title is available.

Patrons can check out up to five titles at a time. Patrons have access to downloaded items for two weeks. At the end of the two-week check out period, the selections will lock and the patron will no longer have access to the items, meaning that patrons don't have to bother with returning a CD or cassette to the actual library. The downloadable items may be rechecked out for two weeks if there are no holds on the title.

In order to provide this valuable service, the Miles Community College library has partnered with the Montana State Library's pilot project, MontanaLibrary2Go, as well as other Montana libraries including Miles City Public Library, Missoula Public Library, and Flathead Public Library.

As more Montana libraries join the MontanaLibrary2Go project, the selection of audiobooks will expand. Initially patrons will have access to nearly 1500 titles ranging from popular fiction, nonfiction, young adult and children's titles.

For more information on how to use this new online service follow the Downloadable Audiobooks link or contact the Miles Community College Library at (406) 874-6105.
