| Miles Community College Board of
Trustees Approves Freezing Student Tuition |

The Miles Community College Board of Trustees approved
freezing tuition for the 2009- 2010 academic year in their
Monday evening meeting, May 11. This action is contingent on
pending approval at the Montana Board of Regents meeting May
27-29 in Kalispell. Trustee member Susan Stanton stated, "I want
to stress the importance in this decision in keeping our
enrollment stable. The College has an important impact on our
community. When we survive our community thrives. We need to
freeze tuition."
Under new business, the Board certified results from the trustee
election. Mr. Jeff Okerman took the oath of office as a new
board member. Election was held for the Board of Trustees
officers for 2009-2011. New officers are Garrett McFarland,
Chair; Rusty Irion, Vice Chair; and Jan Wagner, Secretary. Other
business included the ratification of the College staffing
pattern alignment. This was in follow-up of the administrative
decision to align staffing with the core mission of the College.
Announcements from the President's report included her
attendance at Parkland College Leadership Conference May 19-22
in Pena, Illinois and MOA Conference May 26-27 in Great Falls.
Summer classes are set to begin June 1.
The Board went into executive session to discuss the President's
contract and performance evaluation.
The June Board of Trustees meeting will be held Monday, June 22
at 5:30 p.m. in Community Room 106.
