Miles Community College would not be here without the support and strength of our community. Miles Community College Endowment appreciates the individuals and organizations who have donated resources that have developed our community college into what it is today.
MCC Endowment was created in 1964 and its mission is “to establish and maintain a permanent endowment fund through the solicitation, investment, and management of donations for the purpose of providing scholarships and assisting in capital improvements and special needs of the College for the betterment of the students, faculty, staff, and community.” Some of the Endowment’s recent projects include promoting campus beautification, start-up funding for a new Agricultural Program and Heavy Equipment Program, repair and installation of an energy-saving heating system in the Centra, financial assistance for construction of the new dormitories, and scholarships through the annual Endowment Scholarship Drive. Our current board of directors include: Donald Hartman-President, Stan Markuson-Vice President, Shirley Gierke-Treasurer, Jim Lucas, Chuck Notbohm, Garret McFarland, and Sheryl Cathey. There are many ways to impact the lives of the students attending Miles Community College. Annual giving has an immediate impact on the students by providing funds that are utilized where the needs are the greatest. Gifts can be given at any time throughout the year. Planned giving is a gift the Endowment will receive in the future as a result of your estate, financial, and tax planning. Contributions can provide tax benefits since Miles Community College Endowment is a 501(c)(3) charitable organization. The donations can include bequests, life insurance policies, retirement plan assets, charitable gift annuities, or charitable trusts, to name a few. Memorials or honorariums are a meaningful way to pay tribute to someone special in your life or in the life of Miles Community College. Donations to the MCC Endowment also make a unique and lasting anniversary or birthday gift for those who hold the college dear. Endowments provide a significant and lasting contribution to Miles Community College. The principle of an endowed gift is invested and the interest is used annually to meet the designated needs of the fund. Endowments may be created at any time and funded through annual or deferred gifts.
