“Certified Nurse Assistant” class will begin Monday, February 15 at Miles Community College thru the Center for Distance Education and Community Outreach (DECO). The theory portion of the class will be held on-line from February 15 – April 16 with the clinical practice on Saturdays, February 20, 27, March 20, 27 and April 10, from 8:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m. in Room 112 (Nursing Arts Lab). Machelle Gerhardt will be the instructor for the class. The class is a distance education, internet-based course designed to prepare students for certification as a Certified Nurse Assistant (CNA) and for employment in a long-term care setting. The content covered includes basic nursing knowledge, basic patient-care skills, patient rights, and HIPPA standards. The curriculum has been standardized and approved by the Department of Health and Human Services (DPHHS), Nurse Aide Training Program, Quality Assurance Division.
