Miles Community College Center for Distance Education and Community Outreach (DECO) will be offering “Certified Nurse Assistant” class beginning Monday, June 28. . The theory portion of the class will be held on-line from June 28 through August 20, with the clinical practice on Tuesday and Thursday, August 3, 5, 10, 12 and 17 from 8:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m. in Room 112 (Nursing Arts Lab). Machelle Gerhardt will be the instructor for the class.

The class is a distance education, internet-based course designed to prepare students for certification as a Certified Nurse Assistant (CNA) and for employment in a long-term care setting. The content covered includes basic nursing knowledge, basic patient-care skills, patient rights, and HIPPA standards. The curriculum has been standardized and approved by the Department of Health and Human Services (DPHHS), Nurse Aide Training Program, Quality Assurance Division.
