A Message from the President of Miles Community College

On July 1, 2006, I became the seventh president of Miles Community College. As the leader of one of the state’s three community colleges, I feel very fortunate to have the opportunity to serve the state, eastern Montana, and the Miles City community in this capacity.

Having grown up on a ranch near Dillon, Montana I was the first person in my family to attend college. I therefore understand implicitly the importance of providing affordable post-secondary opportunities. Having received much of my education through Montana higher education institutions and attaining a doctorate in community college leadership, I am committed to helping students access higher education and advancing the college through workforce development.

Many have asked, “Why did you choose MCC?” The answer lies within the pages of this website. We have an award-winning faculty committed to academic excellence and student success. For example, 90% of our nursing program graduates passed the National League of Nursing licensure exam. As well, our distance education department continues to grow exponentially, providing students access to online educational opportunities. As an integral component of student development on campus, our athletic programs teach students the rigors of self-discipline and teamwork. Student athletes consistently earn scholarships to four-year colleges and universities. In addition, we sponsor a variety of programs through local partnerships that aid and benefit members of our community.

What the reports, data, and printed word cannot tell you, however, is something you have to experience for yourself. I am sure you will find, as I have, that the greatest strength of Miles Community College is the people. Our faculty and staff are committed to providing a quality student experience.

As you have the opportunity, please call or stop by campus. We look forward to visiting with you, giving a tour, and answering your questions regarding Miles Community College.

We truly believe that you can start here and go anywhere.

With best wishes for your future,

Stefani Gray Hicswa, Ph.D.
President
