ELECTRONICS TECHNOLOGY - Program is currently on hiatus for restructuring.

The program is designed to give a solid background that most careers in electronic fields are built on. This knowledge can be applied to a wide range of job opportunities. Utilization of computers and hands-on experience with a wide variety of equipment are key components of each course. The program is designed to make an easy transition into a new job market with minimal on the job training. This program also works well as a starting point for continued studies in electronics. Upon completion of the A.A.S. degree, students are well qualified for entry-level positions or to continue pursuit of a baccalaureate degree at a four-year institution.

Two-Year Associate of Applied Science Degree
The first year of the program covers basic electronics and building the basic foundations for continuing studies in electronics. The second year builds on the basic concepts of the first year to introduce digital techniques and micro-controller concepts and fundamentals. The second year also includes an "In-House Industry" section to give the student a real world environment for trouble-shooting, repairing, and maintaining equipment on campus.

Course Schedule
The program course scheduling has been planned to the recommended sequence below. Variations from the recommended sequence may result in scheduling conflicts that could necessitate more than two years required to complete the program.

INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY
To earn a degree in this field, students must complete the core requirements and select from one of two options: Computer Applications or Computer Science.

Computer Applications is geared toward students wanting immediate employment in the work force upon completion of the Associate of Applied Science degree.

The Computer Science option is more for the technically-minded students. The classes are more advanced and favorable for transfer. The student may be prepared for computer tech employment or transfer to a four-year institution upon completion of our two-year program.
