AA1021 Adv Keyboarding
This course is designed to develop the students' keyboarding skills through the application of prescribed speed and accuracy drills. Keyboarding skills are applied to formatting various types of business correspondence and production keyboarding. Students will also develop speed and accuracy on the ten-key number pad. Students enrolled in an AA program must reach a speed of 45 wpm with 5 errors. Prerequisites: Previous keyboarding experience with at least 35 words per minute.

AA1161 Adv Word Processing
 

AA1191 Machine Transcription
Development of skill in using transcription machines with emphasis on mechanics including grammar, spelling, and punctuation. Basic business vocabulary is taught, then applied by using transcription tapes. Production transcription tests and written exams are given. Prerequisites: AA102 with a keyboarding speed of 45 wpm, 5 minutes, 5 or less errors.

AA1201 Office Procedures - Medical
Provides a realistic setting (simulation) in which students integrate, organize, prioritize and apply specified knowledge and skill in the medical office. Students will code charts, fill in insurance claims, transcribe various medical reports, make appointments, do automated billing, etc. Attitude and confidentiality in the medical office will be stressed. An overview of ethical concerns and legal considerations for medical office staff will be presented. Prerequisite: Enrollment in any of the medical assistant options.

This course gives students an opportunity to experience office setting situations such as answering the telephone, handling visitors, making travel arrangements, setting priorities, taking minutes at meetings, processing information, understanding ethics and learning filing systems.
