Coutney Spire

Jim Atchison, the Executive Director of Southeastern Montana Development Corporation, presented Miles Community student, Courtney Spire of Miles City, with the Energy Open Scholarship. The Scholarship is funded through the proceeds from the Energy Open Conference in Colstrip where responsible energy development is showcased.

“The recipient, we are happy to announce and congratulate, is Courtney Spire,” said Jim Atchison. “We are very excited about providing these funds to help her with her education here at Miles Community College.”

Courtney Spire is a student in the Heavy Equipment Operations program at Miles Community College and is also a member of the Montana National Guard.

“I’m pretty honored,” said Courtney, “I was really excited to hear back from them. I plan on being a lifer in the National Guard. I’ve been applying for jobs inside the state, so we’ll see where I go with that. I also plan to return to school to further my education.”

I would like to thank SEMDC, Jim Atchison, and the Energy Open for offering this generous scholarship to Courtney,” said Miles Community College President Dr. Stacy Klippenstein. “She is a great example of an ambitious student with a passion to learn. MCC has a great Heavy Equipment Operations program and this proves we have outstanding students. Congratulations Courtney!”
