Miles Community College, in cooperation with the Special Olympics of Southeastern Montana’s Bandits basketball team, will host a talent showcase at half time of the men’s and women’s basketball games on Friday, November 3.

The home opener against Bismarck State College on November 3 will be a special night to celebrate the Pioneers and the local Bandits Basketball program, in its sixth season. Last year, athletes and their families were delighted to be able to display their skills during an MCC game in front of their hometown crowd.

The Bandits are part of the Southeastern Area of Special Olympics Montana. While it is currently basketball season, the Miles City area athletes also compete in Bocce, Bowling, and Athletics (Track and Field).

At the Regional Tournament earlier this season in Billings, the teams played well and brought home many gold and silver medals. Through individual skills competitions, half court 3-on-3, and also full court 5-on-5, the Southeast Bandits currently have 28 athletes varying in ages from 9 to 45 years old. The program continues to grow and relies on community and volunteer support.

The Bandits are grateful for the opportunity to play on MCC’s hardwood before heading to the State Special Olympics Basketball Tournament on November 9-11 in Helena. They will be among 800+ basketball players from across the state gathering for competition and fun.

Miles Community College Co-Athletic Director, Jeff Brabant, says this on the talent showcase, “Miles Community College is proud to provide this opportunity to a great organization that provides such an immeasurable experience and opportunity to the Special Olympics of Montana. If you have the opportunity to make it to the games on Friday night, the Miles City Bandits are deserving of all the support that this community can provide.”

The Lady Pioneers will tip off at 5pm with the men’s game following at 7pm. Both teams will square off against Bismarck State College. The talent showcase will take place at half time of both games with both a skills competition and half court 3-on-3. Come support the Miles City Bandits and your Pioneers! A live feed of both games and also the halftime showcase will be available on the Miles Community College Pioneers Facebook page.
