MCC to Hold In-person Graduation Ceremonies

Miles Community College will celebrate the Class of 2020 and the Class of 2021 with an in-person, socially distanced Commencement ceremony on Saturday, May 8, at 10:00am at Denton Field in Miles City. Livestreaming of the event will be available on the MCC channel on Youtube.

At the outdoor ceremony, social distancing will be required, and the wearing of face coverings or masks is encouraged. There is no limit to the number of invited guests each graduate may have in attendance. In the event of rain or severe weather, the ceremony will be moved indoors to the Centra on the MCC campus. Upon arrival to campus, masks will be required and guests may be limited or steered into overflow seating to view the livestream.

Due to Covid-19 restrictions, the graduating class of 2020 were not able to hold an in-person event, but instead held a virtual ceremony online last May, which included recorded videos of speakers and a slide show of the graduating class. The graduates from 2020 have been given the opportunity to make-up their in-person event and were asked back this year to partake in the 2021 commencement ceremonies.

Dr. Eileen A. Hemman, COL (Ret.), has been designated as the Commencement speaker for this year’s ceremony, which begins at 10:00am. Dr. Hemman is also the 2021 recipient of the MCC Distinguished Alumni Award.

The MCC Nursing Program will also hold its Pinning ceremony for the Class of 2021 on Friday, May 7, at 2:00pm, in the MCC Centra. Due to the ceremony taking place indoors, all attendees will be required to wear masks and social distance. There is no limit to the number of guests that may attend.

Livestreams will be available for both events on the MCC YouTube page (www.youtube.com).
