MILES CITY, MONTANA: The Phi Theta Kappa (PTK) Honor Society chapter at Miles Community College has been named a 2022 REACH Chapter by the national PTK organization for excellence in membership development.

PTK recognizes the academic achievement of college students and provides opportunities for its members to grow as scholars and leaders. Established in 1918, Phi Theta Kappa has a presence on almost 1,300 community college campuses in 11 nations. The REACH (Recognizing Excellence in Acceptance and Completion with Honors) Rewards program encourages membership by rewarding chapters that achieve or exceed 15 percent for their membership acceptance rate.

“Phi Theta Kappa offers students an opportunity to learn about the importance of volunteering within the local community,” says MCC Chapter Advisor and MCC Business Instructor, Kristy Atwood. “In addition, students gain valuable leadership skills and experience. I am excited to work with new and returning members of the PTK chapter at MCC as we continue to grow our chapter!”

The MCC PTK Chapter members will receive special recognition in the form of Phi Theta Kappa graduation stoles to be distributed to chapter officers or members to be worn during graduation and to keep in celebration of their college completion milestone.
