MILES CITY, MONTANA: Each year at Miles Community College (MCC), graduating student awards are given to three MCC students based on each individual's time as a student, including their academic and co-curricular involvement. These awards are presented at graduation ceremonies and are given in three divisions: General/Arts and Sciences, Career and Technical, and Nursing. Nominations are submitted in the spring by MCC faculty and staff.

This year, the Class of 2025 Outstanding Graduate in the Career and Technical Division is Bree Swanson of Chinook, Montana. Swanson will be graduating summa cum laude with two degrees at this Saturday’s graduation ceremony: an Associate of Applied Science in Information Technology/Graphic and Web Design, and a Certificate in Graphic Design Assistant. With a 4.0 GPA, Swanson is also one of the Class of 2025 valedictorians.

Swanson has demonstrated exceptional academic achievement, leadership, and dedication across all facets of campus life. She is the president of the Young Farmers and Ranchers Club, a member of Phi Theta Kappa, and an active force behind many MCC events.

She also served as the libero for the Pioneer volleyball team, earning MonDak All-Conference and All-Region XIII honors and surpassing 1,000 career digs. She also works at the Ag Advancement Center, ensuring the facility is event-ready and maintained to the highest standards.

“I’m so thankful for this award and the connections I’ve made with teachers and staff at MCC,” Swanson said. “I’m so grateful for their support.”

Swanson was surprised with the award during one of her information technology courses on campus, where MCC faculty and staff joined together to interrupt the classroom and present her with a certificate and medallion.

“I was completely surprised to get it!” she exclaimed.

SBree completed an internship at BuyMT in Miles City, where her design skills left such an impact that she was asked to continue working remotely post-graduation.

The three Outstanding Graduate Award winners will lead the student processional during the 85th MCC Commencement Ceremony, held this Saturday at 10:00 a.m. in the MCC Centra.
