Miles Community College is committed to providing a safe environment for its students, employees, and visitors. Campus policies, emergency notification systems, and campus safety reports are a few resources available to promote campus safety and emergency preparedness.

Students, employees, and visitors may subscribe to Rave Alert to receive text or email message alerts in the event of a campus emergency.

Discrimination, Harassment, Sexual Misconduct, Stalking, Domestic Violence and Retaliation Policy. This policy, which protects both students and employees from discrimination, harassment, sexual misconduct, domestic violence, stalking, and retaliation, was adopted March 24, 2014.

Reporting Procedures. MCC employees are required to report any known incident of sexual assault involving students (except where statutorily prohibited). Employees aren’t required to report a victim's name if the victim doesn’t want to be identified. Student Conduct Code. The Student Conduct Code governs all MCC students.

Title IX Coordinator. The Title IX Coordinator is responsible for responding to complaints about sexual harassment and assault, along with other grievances. All students, employees and affiliates should feel comfortable calling the coordinartor to confidentially report an incident. All students should know how and where to report discrimination, including sexual harassment. Such reports will be addressed equitably and promptly.

College Response

When the College learns of sexual misconduct, we will take immediate and appropriate action to determine what occurred. We will take prompt and effective steps to end sexual misconduct, prevent its recurrence, and address its effects, whether or not the sexual misconduct is the subject of a criminal investigation. The University will take steps to protect a complainant. Retaliation against anyone reporting sexual misconduct or otherwise providing information about sexual misconduct is strictly prohibited.

Assistance for Survivors

If you have been the victim of sexual misconduct, we encourage you to utilize the confidential services available at CNADA. Survivors may seek assistance from trusted campus employees, including faculty, staff, residence hall assistants, or advisors. In order to ensure that the College can do everything possible to provide assistance to survivors and stop sexual harassment, College employees are required to report information they receive about allegations of sexual misconduct to the Title IX Coordinator.

Emergency Notification System

Emergency Text Messages. Any student or employee signed up for the emergency text message system will receive a text message alert in the event of a campus emergency. To sign up, log in to Rave Alert. Set your preferences in the Emergency Text Messages section.

Safety Reports

In accordance with section 485(f) of the Higher Education Act of 1965, otherwise known as the Jeanne Clery Disclosure of Campus Security Policy and Campus Crime Statistics Act (Clery Act), Miles Community College provides crime and fire statistics for the prior three years to the Department of Education and to the campus community.
