MILES CITY, MONTANA: Miles Community held its 82nd annual commencement ceremony on Saturday, May 7, at the MCC Centra in Miles City.
Degrees awarded were Associate of Arts, Associate of Science, Associate of Science in Registered Nursing, Associate of Applied Science, Certificate of Applied Science, and/or a Certificate.
Of the 96 graduating students, 27 have earned a cumulative grade point average (GPA) of 3.75 of higher, and were recognized as honor graduates. Students with 4.0 GPAs have been named valedictorians and are Hazel R. Eaton of Belgrade, Abigail Johnson of Hamilton, Rose Marie Rychner of Miles City, Darcy K. Dahle of Busby, and Kelbee N. Dehnham of Malta, all of Montana.
MCC also announced the recipients of their annual Outstanding Graduate Student awards.
Each spring at the college, the Outstanding Graduating Student awards are given to students in the current year’s graduating class, based on the individual's time as a student, and include their academic and co-curricular involvement. Nominations are submitted in the spring by MCC faculty and staff. These awards are presented at graduation ceremonies and given in three divisions: General-Arts & Sciences, Career & Technical, and Nursing. Awards are also given to first-year students following the same criteria.
This year, the award honorees were Sydney Johnstone of Miles City (General-Arts & Sciences), Blayne Hubing of Circle (Career & Technical), and Samantha Bonenberger of Billings (Nursing).
